Welcome Everyone! My name is Ms. Muñoz and I am so excited to be your school counselor this year. I completed my Bachelors in Sociology at UCR and my Masters in Educational Counseling at the University of La Verne.

As your school counselor, I can help you with academic, social/emotional, and college/career domains. What does this mean? I can help solve problems, deal with life changes, listen to concerns, help you make friends and finding a career that is right for you.

I look to having an amazing year! I believe in you!
OUR SCHOOL COUNSELING MISSION

The mission of EMCSD’s Credentialed Counseling Program is to provide high quality, comprehensive counseling services that reflect an understanding and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. In collaboration with all educational partners, its mission is to empower all students to discover their full potential through their growth in academic development, career development, and social-emotional development domains.
OUR SCHOOL COUNSELING VISION

The vision of EMCSD’s Credentialed Counseling Program is to make space for all students to flourish, achieve positive outcomes, and be well prepared to meet the challenges and high expectations of the 21st century. The program will remove barriers and provide universal and equitable access to counseling services that propel students to become good stewards of their community.
PROGRAM GOALS

EMCSD’s Credentialed Counseling Program’s goals are organized and aligned with ASCA’s three domains: academic development, career development, and social-emotional development. These domains promote mindsets and behaviors that augment the learning process and create a culture that promotes college readiness, career readiness, and life readiness.

Academic Goals:
  1. To support students in gaining the attitudes, knowledge, and skills that contribute to effective learning activity undertaken in school and throughout life.
  2. To support students in obtaining the necessary skills and knowledge to allow them to choose from a wide spectrum of post-secondary options.
  3. To support students in understanding the relationship between academics, post-secondary options, home life, and community involvement.

Career Goals:
  1. To support students in acquiring self-awareness of their abilities, skills, interests, and motivations to investigate post-secondary options and make informed decisions.
  2. To support students in employing strategies to obtain post-secondary goals with success not at the expense of satisfaction.
  3. To support students in discovering the relationship between personal qualities, education, and training to post-secondary success.

Social-Emotional Goals:
  1. To support students in acquiring the self knowledge and interpersonal skills to help them to better understand themselves and to also learn to better understand others.
  2. To support students in the decision making and problem solving skills necessary in making and achieving realistic but challenging goals.
  3. To support students in acquiring the personal safety skills necessary to successfully navigate through challenging situations and serve as a buffer from the effects of adversity.
